7. Minors, COPPA, and the ESA Program
COPPA: Children Under 13
ElyIT does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age, as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Our programs are designed for high school-aged students (typically 14 and older), and enrollment requires a parent or legal guardian to initiate and approve the process. If we discover that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it promptly. To report a concern, contact us at info@elyit.com.
ElyIT is enrolled with the Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program, which allows us to provide individualized and small-group instruction, both virtually and at in-person events, to qualifying high school-aged students. Our standard programs are open to adult learners (18+) and to ESA-eligible students aged 13 and above with verified parental consent.
When a minor enrolls through the ESA program, we collect data from or about that student in the same categories described in Section 1. This data is collected only with the knowledge and consent of the student's parent or legal guardian. By enrolling a minor through the ESA program, the parent or guardian consents to the collection and use of the student's information as described in this Privacy Policy.
We do not use minor student data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties. Analytics tools (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) are configured to avoid collecting personally identifiable information and are not used to target advertising at minors.
Parental rights
Parents and legal guardians of minor students have the right to:
- Review any personal information we hold about their child
- Request corrections to inaccurate information
- Request deletion of their child's personal data (subject to legal and business record-keeping obligations)
- Withdraw consent for future data collection by discontinuing enrollment
- Refuse to permit further collection or use of their child's data
