Meet Our Founder
Nicholas Ely
Founder & CEO
Nicholas Ely founded ElyIT to solve a problem he experienced personally when entering the technology industry. Early in his career, Nicholas knew he wanted to work in IT but had little guidance on the many paths available within the field. Without a mentor to help assess his strengths and interests, he changed academic focuses multiple times while trying to find the discipline where he could succeed and build a meaningful career. Like many aspiring technologists, he spent his early years navigating entry level IT roles while searching for the area of technology that aligned with both his skills and his purpose.
Nicholas ultimately found that purpose in the public sector, where he began leading the development of enterprise software systems that support critical services for residents of Maricopa County. Over more than a decade in the industry, he has led multidisciplinary teams of senior software engineers, business systems analysts, data scientists, analysts, and support professionals responsible for building and maintaining mission critical technology platforms. These systems have modernized operations, improved community outcomes, and generated data that enabled advanced predictive analytics and machine learning models to improve organizational efficiency.
As Nicholas grew into leadership roles and began hiring technical professionals, he noticed a common pattern. Many talented people in the IT industry had taken similarly uncertain paths into the field without clear mentorship or guidance. This realization led him to begin teaching IT security and networking programs, where he discovered a passion for mentoring students and helping them identify career paths aligned with their strengths. Through his instruction and mentorship, students and professionals he has guided have collectively earned more than 65 industry certifications and advanced into higher level technical roles.
ElyIT was created to provide the guidance Nicholas wished he had when he began his career. Through personalized mentorship, real world technical training, and a strong network of industry professionals, ElyIT helps aspiring technologists discover the path where they can succeed and build meaningful careers in technology.
